FAQ

Has Adipotide been reviewed by regulators?
No. It is not approved by any regulator and is not a licensed product; its only registered Phase I trial was terminated in 2019 at the principal investigator's request.
What does Adipotide target?
It binds prohibitin on the vasculature supplying white adipose tissue and triggers cell death there, reducing the blood supply to that tissue. It does not act on appetite signalling the way incretin compounds do.
Why did development stop?
ClinicalTrials.gov records NCT01262664 as terminated in January 2019 at the principal investigator's request; no other reason is given there. Kidney tubular changes had already been observed, dose-dependently, in the 2011 primate study.
