FAQ

What does "reconstitute" mean for peptides?
It means adding a liquid diluent to dry, freeze-dried (lyophilized) peptide powder so it dissolves into a solution you can measure and work with.
Should I use sterile water or bacteriostatic water to reconstitute?
Sterile Water for Injection has no preservative and is single-dose only; Bacteriostatic Water for Injection contains benzyl alcohol and is built for repeated draws from the same vial, per their FDA labels.
Why can't I shake the vial?
Labels for lyophilized powders like REMICADE and Cetrorelix instruct gentle swirling only; REMICADE's label specifically flags vigorous agitation as something to avoid.
How do I calculate concentration after reconstitution?
Divide the amount of peptide in the vial by the volume of diluent added. Example: 5 mg in 2 mL gives 2.5 mg per mL.
What if my reconstituted solution looks cloudy?
FDA labels for Glucagon, REMICADE, and Cetrorelix all state not to use a solution that is cloudy or has particles; a correctly reconstituted solution should look clear.
Can I store reconstituted peptide solution?
It depends on the product. The EGRIFTA SV label says use it immediately, never freeze or refrigerate it once mixed, and discard any unused solution.
What diluent volume should I use to hit a target concentration?
There's no universal number. It's a division problem based on how many mg are in your vial and how much diluent you choose to add.
How much bacteriostatic water do I use to reconstitute a 10 mg vial of a research peptide, and how do I work out the dose on a pen?
Your diluent volume sets your vial's concentration — final concentration equals the amount of peptide divided by the diluent you add, the same logic the EGRIFTA SV label shows with 2 mg of powder plus 0.5 mL of diluent yielding 4 mg per mL. There's no single fixed amount for every vial: work the division before you draw anything, then write the resulting concentration and date on the vial. Preppin Peppers' bacteriostatic water is Pfizer Hospira USP at the 0.9% benzyl alcohol tier, in a 30 mL multi-dose vial, and our reconstitution guide and per-compound calculators walk through that math. Once you have your concentration, load it into a standard 3 ml glass cartridge and use our pen guide to see how each pen's draw translates to units.
