FAQ

Should I use bacteriostatic water or sterile water to reconstitute a peptide?
Per FDA labels, sterile water for injection has no preservative and is for single-dose use only; bacteriostatic water contains benzyl alcohol as a preservative and is labeled for multiple-dose, repeat-draw use.
Why do reconstitution instructions say not to shake the vial?
FDA reconstitution labels for infliximab, cetrorelix and tesamorelin say to swirl or roll the vial, not shake it; the cetrorelix label warns that shaking creates bubbles.
How long should a reconstituted vial stand before use?
It varies by label. The infliximab label specifies standing 5 minutes before inspecting the solution; the tesamorelin label specifies rolling the vial for 30 seconds.
How do I calculate concentration after reconstitution?
Divide total peptide mass by the volume of diluent added. Per the EGRIFTA SV label, 2 mg reconstituted with 0.5 mL of diluent yields 4 mg/mL.
What should a properly reconstituted solution look like?
FDA labels describe it as clear and free of visible particles. Cloudy or particulate solutions should be discarded per the label's own instructions.
Can I reuse a vial reconstituted with plain sterile water?
The sterile water for injection label states it is supplied only in single-dose containers with no added preservative, so it is not labeled for repeat withdrawals.
Does the measuring syringe matter once a peptide is reconstituted?
Yes. The Humulin R U-500 label warns that a syringe matched to the wrong concentration can produce a measurement error five times the intended amount.
What comes in a peptide reconstitution kit from PreppinPeppers?
Our starter kits bundle a pen, 3 ml glass cartridges and a 30 ml vial of bacteriostatic water, and each is also sold separately. Pen needles are not included, and we do not sell them.
